I parted with 24 pink vinyl tablecloths I have stored in suitcases for 19 years!!
I married my husband in 1999 and we used these for the tables - I had beautiful lacy white tops that i had rented for on top of each table.
So every time we go somewhere on vacation I take those pink vinyls out of the suitcases and pile them on my dresser and then when we come home I unpack, and pack them back up into the suitcases.
Crazy!! I finally threw them out! Woohoo.
But I still have piles of stuff. Garage is stuff full, my room is engorged - closet filled to the brim etc.
What next?!
I found this much more active slob blog today:

Bringing Order to Chaos
Chaos is such a great word. I read a blog called 'Kingdom of Chaos' about an adoptive mom of more than 4 kids and love it. I play a game called 'Settlers of Catan' online at a private website called Asobrain and my favorite map is 'Chaotic Epicentre'
What is Chaos? Disorganized and crazy...Hmmm sounds like my life.
I just had a listing appointment with an older couple who are ready to move on in their lives. They need the same sort of organizing and clearing of clutter that my family needs. I just know that in today's market buyers will RUN when they walk in and see that.
So asking my broker I found a gal who does thuis for a living. I just talked to her. Her business is called 'Bringing Order to Chaos' and her blog is: http://www.organizewithjulie.com
I hope I can diplomatically bring it up in a loving manner tomorrow when I hand them the information. Then I hope I can sell their home quickly and employ her to help me in mine.

Tailbone Pain
I have had Tailbone pain since last summer.
I found these tips and hope I can incorporate some of these into my daily olife and get some relief.
http://www.coccyx.org/treatmen/exercise.htm
Exercise for coccyx pain
Some sufferers have reported success with exercises in relieving their pain. Note that this requires a commitment to keep up the routine, as results will not come quickly.
Please let me know if you try any of these these exercises, whether or not they are successful for you. Both positive and negative information is helpful for others.
Anal lock
Hengsoon found that doing an Anal Lock excercise reduced his pain.
This exercise is done in bed, morning and evening. It involves the same muscles you use to "hold on" when you need to go to the toilet but can't get there right away. The muscles are tensed and held for 10-15 seconds, repeatedly. Full instructions are given on www.chinese-holistic-health-exercises.com
Weightless squats
R. K. Hennessy, D Giberson, Lylima, Anonymous found that a programme of repeated weightless squats reduced or relieved their pains.
Repeatedly go from this position to standing.
Treadmill
Anie found that a year of running and walking on a treadmill, 40 minutes a day, 4 times a week, got rid of her pain.
Hamstring stretch
Andrew found that physiotherapy and hamstring stretches relieved his pain.
Clam shell exercise
Anonymous found that clam shell exercises reduced his pain when done with the squats above.
Inversion therapy
This method involves hanging upside down at an angle on an inversion table, with the feet fastened in position. This applies traction to the spine. Two patients have reported success in reducing their coccyx pain using inversion therapy, Nad, and one other. Two other patients said that they had tried it, without success.
Breathing and relaxation exercises
Two patients have reported success in reducing coccyx pain using breathing and relaxation exercises combined with deep massage: Kirin and Mike.
Yoga
Two patients have reported success in getting rid of coccyx pain using yoga, Saurabh, AJ. The exercises that they used were:
Shalbasana, Bhujangasana and Ardha shalabh asana
On the other hand, Jo has used these exercises and said: "I would certainly agree that whilst yoga brings about relief from my symptoms as the affected area is stretched and relaxed in turn, it has not provided a cure." CE Forman found they seemed to help at first, but not for long.
Lumbar extender
Brandon Smith and Anonymous reported success in getting rid of coccyx pain using a lumbar extender. Richard L found that it did not help him.

The tailbone, also known as the coccyx, is a small bone at the bottom of your spine or backbone. Tailbone problems can cause pain in the tailbone, pain when sitting and even pain in the arms or legs due to pressure from the tailbone. Strengthening and stretching the muscles near the tailbone can help alleviate pain and prevent future problems.
Pelvic Floor Strengthening
According to the Sports Injury Clinic, doctors often advise strengthening and relaxation exercises for the pelvic floor to treat tailbone injury. These pelvic floor exercises are also known as Kegel exercises or pelvic floor muscle training. The exercises are designed to make the pelvic floor stronger, which can help relieve tailbone problems and urinary incontinence. To perform these exercises, you need to identify the muscles, which can be done by stopping the flow of urine when you are urinating. Once you have identified the muscles, you can practice tightening them a few times a day on your own. Contract upward and inward, do not hold your breath, do not tighten your stomach and do not squeeze your legs.
Hip Stretches
Stretching the piriformis can help heal problems with the tailbone. The most popular piriformis stretch involves lying on your back with your feet on the floor and both knees bent. Cross one leg over the other and then grab the leg that is still on the floor and gently pull the legs toward you. When you feel a stretch in the hip area, hold for at least 20 seconds and then repeat with the other leg.
Buttocks Stretches
Buttocks muscle stretches also can help alleviate pain and stiffness in the tailbone area and around the ligaments that connect to the tailbone. To stretch the glutes, lie on your back with both legs extended straight in front of you. Bend one knee and reach to grab the knee and pull it toward your opposite shoulder until you feel a stretch. Hold for at least 20 seconds and then repeat with the other leg. Another glute stretch recommended by the Sports Injury Clinic is known as the gluteal stretch. Start by lying on your stomach. Lean up to bend one leg in front of you like it is a half butterfly stretch. Lean forward more and you can further rotate and flex the leg to increase the stretch. Hold the stretch for at least 20 seconds and then repeat with the other leg.

More stuff to donate
We spent some time straightening the bedrooms yesterday. I went through the stuff in the guest room behind the bed (which we have been keeping slanted in the corner so there is room to stack stuff behind it!)
Anyway I managed to part with:
Baby foam pad for bath
2 Crib Bumper sets
1 pair toddler sandals
12345 toddler jack in the box
1 crib music box
1 large living room
2 baby toys (one pull toy; 1 little people barn)
Womens clothes:
3 dresses (one a minidress I had from my Punk days in 1984 or so!
5 prs jeans
12 blouses
4 pairs of pants
3 pairs of shorts
1 pair suede sandals- purple birk style, hardly worn ....hurt my feet
Mike parted with
4 home taped vcr tapes
I didn't manage to part with several vintage (and some extremely worn out) punk shirts among them:
Iggy and his first band from high school
Clash (from the Rock the Casbah tour)
Pretenders from circa 1980 tour
Elvis Hitler (a local punk band from the 80s in Detroit scene)
I also didnt toss the Queen sized dust ruffle (never used)
Do you think I could sew some material around the top above the green part and use it on my double bed that I have on Risers?

3 more bags brought in today
And another $35 spent.
What can I say...I got myself 2 pairs of pants - one a Lane Bryant size 16 in a burgandy with the modern lower style cut for $3 and another more casual Old Navy Green low cut Capris for $5.
I also got a pair of sunglasses for $1; a cute shirtdress for Jamie for $1 another fancier pink chiffon drees for her for $1.50; a bag of cosmetic bags for $2; a princess bag for $1 and 2 tabletop sets of drawers/jewelry boxes for Jamie - one larger one for $6 (that one may go to me) that holds necklaces & jewelry; and another pink one with four little drawers for either her hair pulls or her jewelry for $4.
Hmmm that only adds up to $26 so who knows what else.
I need to stop.

OMIGOSH!
Stress can kill...
I love this article on stress reducing tips. But first let me tell you...
Thursday while Jamie and I were stranded without a car because Mike's vehicle wouldn't go forward I got a call from my mom. She asked for a ride to the Dr. I told her we were stranded without a car, and she said ok, and hung up. I felt bad but just thought she had bronchitus as she often gets, as her voice sounded really rough.
Later on that day her friend called and said mom had been rushed to the hospital and they almost had to put her on Life support. It appears her heart valve gave out. We found out this valve was faulty last month when she got in the accident. It appears that it caused her to black out and hit that car. So we were on the right track to getting it replaced. We went to the heart dr. and had an appt with the heart surgeon coming up. It just didn't last as long as we had hoped I guess.
So she is in CCU (Critical Care) unable to talk above a whisper and on oxygen anyway. So I have been visiting her several times daily and back and forth to her apartment as well. Thank god she has caring neighbors who actually convinced mom that EMT needed to be called. (She just was asking for a ride to the dr). Also the nice neighbors are feeding the cat. I just need to go by there and scoop the poop.
But I also need to do chores for my mom that she has been putting off such as calling about her ticket she got from the accident and following up about her mobile home and take care of her bills, and so on...
Anyway Friday when I was in the middle of all of this fun, I got a succinct email from my boss.
To: Marthavmuffin (not really!)
From: Martha's Boss
You need to see Big Boss before you leave today.
That's it.

Went out to lunch again today, but just got soup and eggroll. Spent too much on Jamies Party last weekend, but it was worth it. Also went to Target to try the TIGI After Party Smoothing cream on my hair again to make sure I like it before springing for a bottle of it (Its $18.50!) What I do is try a small dab on one side of my hair and see how it is. Having an issue with flyaway hair...drives me crazy. I have tons of hair product up stairs and none seem to work.
For once I didn't buy it before checking reviews. 35 reviews and they were all raves. So I tried it again, and will get it when I am off 'No Buy January' While at Target I bought a couple more of the Pink Strawberry shortcake headbands for Jamie and a folder.
Spent on lunch and target = $15
Didn't spend on Hair product = $19
VVA picked up our stuff...all the stuff i have posted since I started logging at the beginning of the year. (Except the kitty litter locker as I am goin to see if Diana wants it for her doggies)

Today I bought an egg sandwich and coffee
I was trying not to buy anything including meals out this month for 'No Buy' January, but I am out in the territory and need to eat something occasionally. I guess if I was truly giving it my all I would be packing my lunch...anyway I spent four dollars today and $3 yesterday on eating fast food items. However yesterday I tried to get cuticle oil at Kmart and they didnt have it. They did have Revlon on sale for 40% off, so I was going to get some face make up and eyeshadow. I overcame the urge and ran out of there.
I also went out to lunch with the gang on Tuesday and spent $12
Spent $17
Didnt spend $11

It's funny how when you don't take the stuff out of the house, you rethink tossing it. I have separated the Dustbuster and attachment set and put them in the garage in case I ever want to use them. Ugh I haven't used them in the 9 years we have lived here. I should just toss them! We have a shop vac and a regular vac, why do I need a Dustbuster? I keep thinking I will use it on the blinds...so far I haven't done so.
And I had thrown some ice cube trays in the bag to go to Good will and I saw them in Mikes trunk about a month ago, and they are still there! Meanwhile I found some more Ice cube trays and an Ice bin so I put them in the Good will this weekend.
As well as this:
3 Ice cube trays and 1 bin
Ladies long sleeve blouse
Ladies dress pants
Baby rattle
Baby toy bar
9 infant shirts
9 infant pants
3 infant sleep and plays
2 infant pajamas
3 pairs baby shoes
2 pair baby sneakers
3 pair baby sandals
Now we just need to get the stuff from the garage to Goodwill!
Oh and during this 'No Buy' January I have found a thrifting site:

I guess I am thrifting vicariously via the site.
And I had thrown some ice cube trays in the bag to go to Good will and I saw them in Mikes trunk about a month ago, and they are still there! Meanwhile I found some more Ice cube trays and an Ice bin so I put them in the Good will this weekend.
As well as this:
3 Ice cube trays and 1 bin
Ladies long sleeve blouse
Ladies dress pants
Baby rattle
Baby toy bar
9 infant shirts
9 infant pants
3 infant sleep and plays
2 infant pajamas
3 pairs baby shoes
2 pair baby sneakers
3 pair baby sandals
Now we just need to get the stuff from the garage to Goodwill!
Oh and during this 'No Buy' January I have found a thrifting site:

Starting to Purge!
4 Men's Suit Jackets
1 Leather Mens Bomber JACKET
1 Fabric Heavy weight Mens jacket
1 Very Large Picnic Basket with Tablecloth, silverware etc.
1 Dirt Devil with Attachment kit
4 Womens sweaters
1 Cat litter locker
I need to purge crap out of this house! I hope to keep track of my progress on this blog. Our next door neighbor died and I got to see the inside of his house, which was stacked to the ceiling with stuff, with a path down the middle of each room. Inspiration to clear the piles that I have everywhere. My friend Cinda is not going to buy in January. If I were smart that would be what I would do. Can I do it? Shall I try? It would be supportive to her...and would help me clear out this house. We shall see.
Meanwhile I started this blog to not only track my progress and encourage me to continue it as well as keeping track of our donation for taxes next year.
